The prefecture emblem and the flag were adopted on Sep 17th 1968 by Notice No 
632. The emblem depicts Mt. Fuji and the prefecture form representing powerful 
progress and solidarity. The blue flag has white and orange two color prefecture 
emblem in the center. The blue color stands for Pacific Ocean, boundless expanse 
of sky and surge and development of the prefecture, the orange color for 
people's passion, solidarity and bright sunshine. The flag proportion is 2: 3.

Shizuoka Prefecture uses an orange flag charged with a white Mt.  Fuji in canton and its name in kanji 静岡県 ("Shizuoka Prefecture") in black horizontally.

This flag serves not only as the National Sports Festival (Kokutai) flag, it serves as the main flag of the Shizuoka Sports Association.
