Notice No 86;

The order says a tuft (fringe) should be attached, but not for a flag in
general use. Nozomi has already mentioned that the field should be white
and the emblem purple. The white of the field is a desire for advancement
and development/growth and for a permanently/eternally spotlessly clean
city. The purple of the emblem shows the colour of the city flower
wisteria (in Japanese, the fuji of Fujieda). This shows a desire for noble
dignity in the appearance of the city, together with the field's
cleanness, seeking sublime dignity.

The flag of the former town of Okabe was orange with mark. The town is now,
from 2009, part of the city of Fujieda.
