Description of the flag

The emblem is stylized Kanji character of Iwa of Iwate which symbolizes advanced progress. Adopted 1965-03-06.

The prefecture website says the background of the flag is a forest green.

The prefecture emblem was adopted on Nov 10th 1964 by Notice No 1083. The prefecture flag was adopted on Mar 6th 1965. The flag proportion is 2: 3.
