Weßling Coat of Arms

Shield Azure two croziers Or in saltire, in chief a parson's cap Sable in an inescutcheon Argent, in base a sheatfish naiant embowed Argent.
Hat and croziers are taken from the ephemeral municipal arms of Oberpfaffenhofen, valid only between the 22 December 1975 and the 31 December 1975. Oberpfaffenhofen was incorporated into Weßling on 1 January 1976. Its arms displayed silver croziers on a red shield and the hat on a white triplemount issuant in base. The parson's cap (German: Pfaffenhut) was a canting element. The croziers are alluding to the Benedictine Benediktbeuern Monastery, which had been one of the most important local manorial lords until the 14th century between the Ammersee, a lake, and the Würm River. The sheatfish (Latin: Silurus glanis), is symbolising the location on the shores of the Weßliner See, another lake. The tinctures white and blue are those of the Wittelbach kin, the local rulers.
