Frauenkirchen in the Seewinkel region between the Neusiedlersee and Hungary is known for its basilica
and the Franciscan monastery. The double-armed cross on the arms may refer to these two buildings.

According the municipal administration (who refers to informations from folklorist Sepp Gmasz),
the older version with the rosettes and the flat-ended arms has its earliest proof on a communal seal
from 1783. Meanwhile the newer, simplified version has become the official version. Nevertheless the older
version is still in use, e.g. on the municipality's website and Facebook presence; thus both versions are
given an official character.
The official colours are white-red.
