Description of flag:
It is an armourial flag (banner of arms). It is a green - white - green vertical triband with ratio approx. 1:2:1. In the white stripe seven red, half-timbered farmhouses are surrounding a red fleur de lis.
Meaning:
The green colour is symbolising the early woods. The village was created by forest clearance. The houses are symbolising the seven historical acres (Hufen), which formed the village. The fleur de lis is an attribute of St. Mary. Virgin Mary and Mary Magdalen had been the patron saints of a nuns' monastery in nearby Reinbek, to which the village belonged since 1310. When the monastery had been secularized in 1528 it became a property of the dukes of Holstein. The colours red and white are those of Holstein. Reißmann 1997, p.100

The flag was approved on 17 June 1997. The coat of arms was approved on 15 March 1989. The artist is Renate Böttger from Stapelfeld.
