The council informed me there is no municipal flag.

The coat of arms was adopted in 1986 under the term of Municipal President Mario Alberto García Barrera (1986-1989). The council informed me they could not find information on its designer or the process of adoption. The outer border of the shield is scrolled, having at the top 1749 (foundation year) and SAN FERNANDO. The main border is red, reading UNIFICACION Y TRABAJO TODO LO VENCEN [Unification and Work, All They Conquer]. The upper-left section depicts a scene with two hills; the right has a transmission tower, the left a forest, the sky with a cloud, and in front a cow. The upper-right section depicts a fish and a boat over water, with birds in the sky; this remembers the fishing industry. The lower section depicts a ploughed field, with hills and the sun rising; a tractor can be seen to the left.
