Coat of Arms

from itait.org.mx

The coat of arms of Miquihuana was adopted in June 1990. Through a petition by the Tamaulipas Institute of Culture and Arts headed by Altair Tejeda de Tamez, the Secretary of the Council Marcos Hernández Cervantes designed the Municipal Coat of Arms. The shield has a similar form to the coat of arms of the state, having scrolled edges. It is divided in half; the upper half is divided into two halves. Over the upper half is a ribbon. The upper-left section depicts the fauna of the municipality; a deer, bear, dove; and a tree as a part of its flora. The upper-right section depicts a cow eating grass and a goat, remembering the cattle-raising industry. The lower section depicts the Sierra Madre Oriental as the background to a ploughed field, depicting a plow and some typical plants of the environment: oregano, barrel cactus, and cactus.
