Coat of Arms

from itait.org.mx

The coat of arms was adopted in 1990 under Municipal President Héctor González Rodríguez (1990-1992). Over a scroll, the shield is placed. Its border is yellow, reading MAINERO TAMAULIPAS at the top. The sides show 14 stars for its communities, one at the top of the inner area for the municipal seat. At the bottom of this inner area is a small white space. The inner area has a border in black, reading at the top TRADICION; in the middle TRABAJO [work] and at the bottom CULTURA. To the left side of the upper half depicts a sheep and bovine (left) and a cart and tree (right) over red signifying cattle-raising and the land. To the right side, a plow, tree (left), a goat and bovine (right) over blue are for agriculture, the land, and the fauna of the land. The center of the upper half depicts a church bell in a compartment over a cross marking a diagonal division between blue and red, all of this for faith; over the red here is an open book for education. The lower half depicts the Cerro del Pilón hill, a prominent geographic feature in the area, with a stream and bush also visible.
