Coat of Arms

from itait.org.mx

The coat of arms of Jiménez is a modified coat of arms of José de Escandón, First Count of the Sierra Gorda; designed in 1751 by his petition. The coat of arms was displayed on the mansion of the Count of the Sierra Gorda found here; the coat of arms itself moved to the capital on 20 October 1925 according to the orders of the Governor. Serving as supporters are men holding a machete, stepping on a compartment of leaves. Above the shield is a helmet for nobility with mantling. The shield is quartered in red and blue, having on red a castle. The upper-right section depicts an eagle eating a serpent on a cactus under the sun; this section differs from the version on the actual coat of arms of the Count which depicts an eagle and two stars. The lower-left section depicts a castle with a red flag over it and two suns or stars beside it.
