No Flag

The council informed me they do not have a municipal flag, but one could be adopted in the future.

Coat of Arms

from the Municipal Council

The council informed me their coat of arms was adopted in 1994, being designed by Prof. Juan Francisco Portes Muñiz. The municipal council started a call for submissions the same year, under Municipal President Benjamín Hernández Avalos (1993-1995). The edges of the shield are rolled, having mountains and birds (apparently, 23 were intended for its ejidos) in its background. To the left, a lake for the Vicente Guerrero Dam with a fish and duck for its fauna. A cow and goat are also visible. In the center is a lit torch over an open book, signifying effort, progress, and study of the inhabitants of the region. To the right, a sorghum plant, cob of corn, and a ploughed field with a tractor over it remembering agriculture. Above the design, 3 DE JUNIO VD CROIX 1770 and FAMILIAS UNIDAS is read; this is the date of foundation and the fact families are united here, even through the surnames of the founders still very common in the area today. Under, PASO DE PIEDRAS and VILLA DE CASAS is read; the first being where in 1806, the population was moved to a place of the same name (today in the area of Cd. Victoria) because of the town's flooding.
