The council informed me they do not use a municipal flag.

from pngegg.com
The council does not know the history of the coat of arms, but it is known it was adopted in 2011 after the first Council was appointed the same year in February. The designer is unknown. It depicts (left) the Fort of San Felipe, representing the history of the conquest; (right) the Ruins of Ichkabal, representing the pre-Hispanic history. Inside is the form of a man in a snail with water inside it representing the Bacalar Lagoon; the snail representing the abundance of snails and the Maya culture which dominated in the area. The man is holding the sun, representing its rebirth.
