Erdweg Coat of Arms

Baroque shield Azure, the eastern façade of a Romanic church Argent with roofs Or, in base a fess dancetty Or.
Meaning:
The church is a representation of the local basilica on the Petersberg, a mountain, the most important local architectural monument. The mountain had been the home of a Benedictine convent from 1100 to 1122. The fess dancetty is the oldest heraldic symbol of the Counts of Scheyern-Wittelsbach and was included into the arms of the convent. Scheyern Abbey and the Wittelsbach kin had been important local manorial lords.
The seal displays the arms and has a black circumscription with separators as follows: "Bayern" (above) and "Gemeinde Erdweg" (beneath).
