He was one of the Four Heavenly Kings of Tokugawa, and was given the character "Yasu" by Ieyasu for his first battle in 1563 against the Mikawa Province Issho Uprising. After the battles of Anegawa, Nagashino, and Komaki-Nagakute, he became the first feudal lord of Tatebayashi with 100,000 goku. The war banner has white background with black Kamon of Sakakibara Genji wheel topped with a red Maneki small streaming flag. The Sakakibara genji wheel is a family emblem in the shape of the wheel of a bullock cart ridden by a court noble. It is also the emblem of the outer shrine of Ise Jingu, and there is a record that the Sakakibara clan, which served as Shinto priests, used this emblem.
