Symbols of Vélez-Rubio

The symbols of Vélez-Rubio do not appear to have been officially adopted.
The flag is rectangular, in proportions 2:3, crimson red with a green diagonal stripe running form the upper hoist ot the lower fly, charged in the center with the local coat of arms.
The crimson colour is taken from the standard of the Marquis of Los Vélez while the green bend represents Andalusia.

The coat of arms is "Or three rocks proper on waves azure and argent ensigned with three seven-leaved branchers of nettle. The shield surmounted with a Marquis' coronet.
These are the arms of the Fajardo lineage, Marquis of Los Vélez. The municiplaities of Albox and Vélez-Blanco use practically identical coat of arms.
