The official name of of the county of Salzland is "Salzlandkreis". The Salzlandkreis is a county in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Its capital is Bernburg (Saale). This county was established by merging the former districts of Aschersleben-Staßfurt (except for the town Falkenstein/Harz), Bernburg and Schönebeck as part of the
administrative reform of 1 July 2007.

New Flag and CoA adopted on 11 July 2007 by the County Council (Kreistag).
The county received on 23 November 2007 the official authorization for the use of symbols. Very striking in the shield of the coat of arms (in first and fourth field) is a salt basket (Salzkorb). The basket came from the old coat of arms of the village Gross-Salze, now part of the city of Schönebeck. It symbolizes the name of the county - Salzland (Salt Country). The other parts of the shield of the coat of arms present the former State of Anhalt (third field) and the former Prussian Province of Saxonia (second field).
