Coat of Arms

Shield Or with base wavy of Azure and Argent, a coronet Or superimposing a cloth Azure with tassels of the same, in chief an open book Argent, charged at dexter with a palm frond Gules and a sword Sable in saltire, at sinister with an oval inescutcheon as follows: Or four pales Gules, chief Argent a cross Gules. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and grey scroll reading in black upper case letters "MISERICÓRDIA".
Meaning:
Coronet, sword and palm frond are representing former Santa Catarina Commune, the inescutcheon former Mercês commune, and the tassels former Encarnação commune.

Presentation of Misericórdia

Misericórdia Commune was established in 2012 by merging of the former communes of Encarnação,Mercês, Santa Catarina and São Paulo. The new commune doesn't seem to have a proper logo. On its webpage instead the four coats of arms of its former communes are displayed.

hield Argent, two trumpets Sable lined Argent and crossed per saltire, upon the honour point a golden book superimposed by five inescutcheons Azure, set in cross, each one bearing five plates, the whole enveloped by two laurel branches Vert fruited Or, in base a conch Purpure. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "ENCARNAÇÃO - LISBOA".
Meaning:
The trumpets represent a local newspaper. Book, quinas and laurel are alluding to Luís de Camões and to "Os Lusíadas", the golden book of "lusitanity". The conch is representing the melody of the sea, perhaps the root of Fado. The purple colour is representing science, respect and concentration (literally: interior collection).

Encarnação was one of the 53 pre-2012 communes of Lisboa Municipality. It had 2252 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 0,19 km².

Shield Azure, an escarbuncle consisting of 16 branches of ash Or, in chief charged with an oval inescutcheon Or, four pales Gules with chief Argent, charged with a cross patty Gules. In base an 8-point star Or in a lunel Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "MERCÊS - LISBOA". I couldn't find any flag information.
Meaning:
The inescutcheon is alluding to the Mercedários, the members of the Order of Our Lady of Graces (Port.: mercês).

Shield Or, a water supply well Azure, in chief two crossed oars Sable superimposed in the middle by a small sword Gules, base wavy of Azure and Argent, superimposed by a fish red. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "S. PAULO - LISBOA".
Meaning:
The sword as an attribute of St. Paul occupies the central chief point. The well is a local building also symbolizing the local riches of fountains. Waves, oars and fish are symbolizing Tejo River and the traditional, local fishing activities.
