Flag of the South Province

The flag of the South Province is white with the province's logo, made of a blue sail with a blue-white-red face, placed over two blue waves and the writing "PROVINCE SUD" (italic blue letters) / NOUVELLE-CALEDONIE (brown letters).
The blue-white-red face and the "NOUVELLE-CALEDONIE" writing recall that the population of European origin is dominant in the province; the provincial assembly is ruled by anti-independentist parties (36 out of 40 representatives).
