Weitnau Coat of Arms

Shield Argent with base Gules, issuant from base a farmer, dressed by trousers and hat Sable and jacket Maron, holding a scythe Sable in pale bladed Azure.
Meaning:
In 1836 the town applied for proper arms. Proposed was a farmer in front of a landscape. But the Bavarian king insisted on arms of a "design due to heraldic rules" and simplified the draft. The farmer originally wore the local traditional costume, but Otto Hupp (1925) displayed the costume in Franconian style.

The arms were granted on 2 March 1838 by King Ludwig I of Bayern.
