Marktrodach Coat of Arms

Shield Gules, a unicorn's head Argent, flanked in base by two sinister bendy/bendy rafting hooks Argent, chief quartered of Argent and Sable.
Meaning:
Marktrodach was established in 1978 by a merger of Seibelsdorf Market Town and the municipalities of Großviechtach, Oberrodach, Unterrodach and Zeyern. The chief is alluding to the Margraves of Brandenburg-Bayreuth, the former rulers. The existence of the arms of Seibelsdorf is proven by a seal print from 1559. It is also representing Oberordach and Seibelsdorf. Seibelsdorf had been seat of a parish and the capital of a lordship beneath Mittelberg Castle since the 13th century. The lordship was acquired in 1340 by the Burgraves of Nürnberg, who established the Mittelburg Amt. The unicorn is taken from the arms of Oberrodach and was differentiated. It is taken from the family arms of the Lords of Waldenfeld, who had been manorial lords of half the village. The hooks are taken from the arms of Unterrodach and Zeyern. They are representing rafting as an important business line in the past. The colours red and white are those of Franken.

Unterrodach Coat of Arms

Shield Argent, parted by a fess wavy Gules, superimposing two rafting hooks Azure hafted Or in saltire.
Meaning:
The fess wavy is a representation of the (Wilde) Rodach, a local river. The hooks are referring to rafting on that river in the past.
