Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
At the base is a golden inescutcheon bearing a black, rampant, double queued lion tongued red. Above is an issuant St.Mary holding naked Jesus in her arms. Both are nimbed golden (= yellow) and St.Mary wears a blue robe. They are surrounded by a golden (= yellow), starry gloriole.
Meaning:
According to source the arms are based upon a seal from 1550. The origin of the image of the St. Mary is not known. The inescutcheon is alluding to the dukes of Jülich, the former rulers for many centuries.
