About the district

The Partido de Mercedes has a population of about 62,000 and sits 100 km west of Buenos Aires city.

It owes its name to a series of undulations, or the way the terrain descends gradually to the banks of the Paraná River.

Description of the flag

The flag of the Municipality (Partido) of Mercedes in the Province of Buenos Aires is vertically divided blue at hoist and white at fly. In the center is the municipal coat of arms and below it "MUNICIPALIDAD DE MERCEDES / PROVINCIA DE BUENOS AIRES" in two rows.
