About the flag

The arms were granted to the province in 1567 (to replace arms from 1560 which had a wolverine in them). The eagle was for a long time black on gold, but at the revised grant on 19 June 1936, the original colours were retaken. At the same date, the exact same arms were also granted to the County of Värmland.
