Description

Local Council Menahamiyya was established as Melahamiyya in 1901, as the first 'colony type' settlement of the Jordan Valley-Kinnereth region. Renamed in 1921 following the visit of the British High Commissioner Herbert Samuel. (Menahamiyya is named after the father (named Menahem) of the first British Commissioner in the Mandate era, Herbert Samuel). Situated between Tiberias and Bet She'an and got 1,400 inh. Local Council since 1951.

The municipal emblem was published in the official gazette (Rashumot), 'Publications Gazette' section (Yalkut HaPirsumim), YP 1560, 16 October 1969.
