Bad Heilbrunn Coat of Arms

Shield Gules a fountain Argent rising from a basin of the same, base lozengy of Argent and Azure.
Meaning:
The fountain with basin is the heraldic symbol for a spa. A iodine spring was (re-) discovered in 1159 by Abbot Walther of Benediktbeuern Abbey. Red and white are the tinctures of the abbey, which had been the manorial lord until 1803. The facilities of the spa were extremely enlarged between 1530 and 1545 and Heilbrunn became the preferred spa of the Dukes and Electors of Bayern in the 16th and 17th century, which is symbolised by the base displaying the Bavarian lozenges. The arms were devised on occasion of the 800-years anniversary of the municipality.
