Aholfing Coat of Arms

Shield Argent, abased parted by a fess wavy Azure, in centre an inescutcheon Gules charged with a bend Argent, chief Gules charged with a bar Argent.
Meaning:
The blue fess wavy is a representation of the Donau River (Danube), as the municipality is located on its Southern bank. The tinctures blue and white are alluding to the Rainer of Rain family, who owned the Aholfing district (Bavarian: Hofmark) from the 13th until the 15th century and the Obermotzing district (Bavarian: Hofmark) from the 14th until the 16th century. Their arms displayed two blue bends on a white shield. The chief is a differentiation of the arms of the Leublfinger family, who succeded the Rainer of Rain as owners of the Obermotzing district. The inescutcheon displays the arms of the Bishopric of Regensburg, as Niedermotzing had been part of the Imperial Lordship of Wörth, which was ruled by the bishops.
