Beratzhausen Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale, at dexter paly-bendy of Argent and Azure, at sinister Or an embattled tower Gules with open port, charged with a bear couchant Sable holding a beaker Vert by his forepaws.
Meaning:
The oldest element of the arms is the beaker, which appeared alone already on local seals in the 15th century. The bear was added between 1568 and 1576 as a punning element. After the town had been acquired by the Wittelsbach kin, seven lozenges, bordered by pales and bends, were added as a differentiation of the arms of the Dukes of Bayern, which displayed 21 lozenges. Since the 16th century all town seals displayed the current pattern. The tinctures are known since 1812.

The banner was approved in 1954 by Minister of Interior of Bayern. The arms were granted in 1578 by Palatine Count Philipp Ludwig of Pfalz-Neuburg.
