Schwarzenbach Coat of Arms

Italian shield Gules, a miner's hammer Argent and a digging tool Argent, both hafted Or, in saltire.
Meaning:
The origin of the arms is unknown. The pattern appeared first on a local seal from around 1600 and also on the seals from the 18th century. The tools are alluding to mining of copper and iron, which was practised in the past. The tools in 1692 were erroneously denoted as hammer and mallet. In the 19th century the charges had been often misinterpreted. The current tinctures are based on a painting from 1811.
