About the Flag

It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain white field.

Coat of arms

Shield Azure, issuant from base a mountain Argent, in chief two keys crossed per saltire, the bendy one Or, the sinister bendy one Argent, kept together by a broken chain Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "S. PEDRO FINS - MAIA".
Meaning:
Keys and chain are representing the imprisoned St. Peter, name giver and local patron saint of the commune. The mountain is representing the Mountain São Miguel - O - Arcanjo, the highest mountain in Maia municipality. On every 1st Sunday in July a pilgrimage to the mountain occurs in order to honour the Archangel St. Michael. The blue colour is symbolizing loyalty, nobility and optimism of the local people.

Presentation of São Pedro Fins

São Pedro Fins Commune is one of the ten communes of the Maia municipality (q.v.); it had 1837 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 5.2 km².
