Blazon: I gull en svart seilingsgrind. In English: Or a balisage signal
Approved by the royal resolution of 20 May 1988 after a drawing by Rolf Tidemann, a graphic artist from Brønnøysund.
Source: http://bronn.no/nor/index.php/kort-oversikt-over-bronnoy-s-historie and also [c2j88])
The design depicts a navigational buoy or literally a "sailing grid" used to signal directions for navigation within harbour.
Brønnøysund was a separate community until 1964 (and apparently after 200 again). It used an unapproved coat of arms adopted on 29 January 1923, see here, but [c2j87] shows the other, 1923 design including a black border with four towers, the year 1923 and the town name in it, after a drawing by Ole Andersen.
A rather bad depiction is available at https://lokalhistoriewiki.no/index.php/Fil:Broennoysunds_byvaaben.jpg
