The flag's ratio is 3:5. It is a red over green horizontal bicolour with the coat of arms shifted to the hoist.

Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a green field is a silver(=white) castle, masoned black having three towers with red triangular roofs. On top of the central tower, which is bigger, is hoisted a white pennant. In the open gate is a red heraldic rose seeded golden(=yellow).
Meaning:
According to source the image is based upon an early seal. The arms are canting and showing Blomberg castle, which had been erected by the barons of Lippe. The rose is symbolizing the rulers. Furthermore the name is derived from "Blumenburg" (= flower castle).

The coat of arms was approved by Regierungspräsident Detmold on 28 June 1971. The flag is traditonal. It is not known, when it was adopted.
