Description of the flag

In 1953, an Augusta Sailing Club was founded in Augusta, Georgia, or Appling, South Carolina depending on how you look at it. Its future home waters were going to be the Clarks Hill Reservoir. By 1955 the reservoir was full and sailing could commence. The next year, the club built a club house, and a competition was established with the Savannah Yacht Club. Later, other competitions were set up as well.
