Flag of Hınıs

The flag of Hınıs (photo) is white with the municipality's emblem, which refers to the castle that overlooks the town of Hınıs. "Belediyesi" means "Municipality".

The remaining ruins of this castle (presentation) can be found on a hill in the area known as Bahçe Mahallesi within the town of Hınıs to the north of Erzurum. Hinis Castle was built by the Azerbaijani ruler Shah Shapur, and at one time was the administrative center for Erzurum province. The castle is on a high hill and sadly today only a small ruined area of the structure can be seen.
