Coat of arms

[Parque das Nações commune CoA] image by Klaus-Michael Schneider, 22 Aug 2016

Shield Argent with base wavy of Azure and Argent, sailing on base a boat Sable rigged Gules, in chief an armillary sphere Gules at dexter and a compass rose Gules at sinister. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "PARQUE DAS NAÇÕES".
The arms are unifying elements identifying the commune with its territoty and its people. The armillary sphere of Dom Manuel is revoking the heroical maritime epoch in Portuguese history, in which new worlds had been discovered. The compass rose is representing the sensibility for orientation, being necessary for navigation. The boat is symbolizing shipping on Tejo River. The base wavy is symbolizing the guideline "Ocean" of the world exhibition, which took place in the commune 1998.
