About the Flag

It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain blue field.
Klaus-Michael Schneider, 6 Feb 2017

Coat of arms

Shield Or with base wavy of Azure and Argent, a porticus Sable masoned Argent with port Argent, in chief a pair of keys Azure crossed per saltire. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (borough rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "CAIA, S.PEDRO E ALCÁÇOVA".
Meaning:
The crossed keys are an attribute of St. Peter, name giver of the commune and local patron saint. The porticus is representing a monument of local heritage, known as Ferdinand's walls (Muralhas Fernandinas or Port of St. Vincent (Portas de São Vicente). The base wavy is representing the local river andCaia Canyon( Barragem do Caia), known for its natural beauty. Altogether one could say, the symbols are the same as those ones of former Caia e São Pedro commune, just the scroll of the arms has changed.

It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain blue field.

Coat of arms

It is the same as that one of the newly formed commune (see left image), but with inscription in black capitals "CAIA E S. PEDRO" and a lighter shade of Or (= yellow), see here. Another version displays an embattled tower Sable masoned Argent with port and windows Argent instead (see right image), and a base wavy having more waves, see this webpage.
