The flag of Iturbide is white with its coat of arms centered upon it. Note that it is possible it was replaced by a state flag; as it has not been seen in in public in recent years, and the state flag they use has the same cravat.

The background behind the adoption of the coat of arms is unclear. The coat of arms has a similar form to the coat of arms of the state, having at the top the effigy of the emperor Agustín de Iturbide, who the municipality is named after. At the bottom is a ribbon in the National Colors reading ITURBIDE, N.L. The sides of the border read HACIENDA DE SAN PEDRO, the old name of the place. At the bottom of the border is MARZO 9, 1850, when the area became a Villa. The shield is divided into four quadrants, having in the center an inescutcheon. The upper-left section depicts the Los Altares rock mural, probably the biggest in Latin America in its time, created by the artist Federico Cantú in 1961; it has not existed since 2002 due to torrential rains destroying it. The upper-right section depicts a crowned red rampant lion, symbol of the state. The lower-left section depicts the Temple of San Pedro Apóstol. The lower-right section depicts the Sierra Madre Oriental as a background to a ploughed field, having a cob of corn in its center (agriculture). The inescutcheon is quartered, depicting black/blue diagonal bars, two lions over red, two wolves over red, and black/blue horizontal bars; a representation of the shield of Agustín de Iturbide.
