The council did not give information regarding the municipal coat of arms. The coat of arms of San Juan del Río has an orange border, having a ribbon at the top that reads San Juan del
Río. At the bottom of the border is "Cuna del Centauro del Norte", as the revolutionary Francisco Villa was born in the Municipality. The upper-right section depicts an image of
Francisco Villa standing, also remembering the same. The upper-left section depicts the Our Lady of Guadalupe church, along with a Franciscan monk and Francisco de Ibarra, founders of the city. The
lower-left section depicts the entrance to the city, with a bridge over a river and trees being visible. The lower-right section depicts products of the region: beans, guava, onion, corn, wheat,
lemons, and a cow for the cattle-raising industry. In the center is a map of the state of Durango, with an open book over it reading 24 Junio 1555, marking the arrival of the Spaniards. The right
side depicts a fire, likely for education.
