Flag

The flag of Delicias has been adopted about six years ago, as the council informed me. In 1950, the coat of arms was painted on a canvas to be used as a banner, in a sense the municipal flag.

The coat of arms of Delicias was adopted through a call for submissions from the council. It was announced on May 15, 1950; the winner was José A. Espejo, with the motto by Víctor Hermosillo Pineda in a separate motto contest. Afterwards Miguel Triana was commissioned to paint the final design, onto a canvas to be used as a banner; in a sense. The shield is placed on a scrolled parchment. Its border is silver, bearing at the top the year 1933, when the city was founded, and to the sides and bottom the motto "TRABAJO LEALTAD CONSTANCIA" [Work, Loyalty, Constance]. In the upper half of the inner section, there is a sun with its rays marked rising over a ploughed field, having a plow in front of it, reminding us of agriculture that is important here. In the lower half, a Greek column is placed in the center for culture, knowledge, and conscience; to its right, a cluster of grapes which the Valley is known for, and to the left cotton which is a primary product here. Below the parchment is a ribbon reading "Cd. DELICIAS Chih."
