Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
Shield parted per fess, above Gules a 6-point star Or, beneath Argent a water lily Gules.
Meaning:
The star is taken from the arms of the Pennethe kin, who founded Lage Estate and frequently served as burgers in Quakenbrück and Vechta. The leaf is taken from the arms of the Counts of Tecklenburg, who probably built the first castle in Essen. The flag colours are those of the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg.
