Eckersdorf Coat of Arms

Shield quartered, 1st and 4th quarter Gules, 2nd and 3rd quarter Argent a pale Azure, chief Azure charged with a lion passant guardant Or.
Meaning:
The lion is taken from the arms of the Dukes of Merania from the Andechs kin, local rulers until 1248. The quartered shield beneath is alluding to the Zollern kin. The black tincture is replaced by the red tincture of the Lords of Plassenberg, the successors of the Andechs kin. They acquired their first estates in the village in 1420 and owned the whole village in 1520. From 1552 until 1757 the village was ruled by the Lords of Lüchau, since 1757 by the Margraves of Bayreuth from the Zollern kin.The blue pale in a silver shield is taken from the arms of the Lords of Lüchau.
