The coat of arms depicts in a green shield white modern residential, sports and industry buildings in front of two golden needle-like arches ringed where they intersect, above a series of hoizontal golden lines, the date "24.06." on a white ribbon in front of a silver cog wheel and a golden fleur-de-lis, flanked with a golden wheat ear and a decidious branch in base. In the chief there is the name of the municipality inscribed white between three stars on each side. The shield is edged with a yellow outer and a green inner border, lined black outside and white inside.

The dark greed shield should represent the municipality as an "ecologic oasis", the white stars stand for "the multinationality and the freedom-loving spirit of the people of Vogošća", the arches represent the roads - one leading into Vogošća over Kobilja Glava, and the other connecting Vogošća through Rajlovac to the town's core (Sarajevo). Their intersection and the rings represent "Vogošća and its northern position towards Sarajevo". The left side of the white buildings represents "the rural and urban parts of Vogošća", while the right side represents the "contours of the industrial, sporting and cultural characteristics of Vogošća". The date "24 July" is the municipal holiday. The fleur-de-lis, identified as Lilium bosniacum, symbolizes the "historical continuity of Bosnia and its peoples". The cog wheel represents "the metal industry on which Vogošća was rooted". The wheat ear represents "the wish for prosperity" while the decidious leaves represent "the green plants and tameness of the Vogošća hills". The horizontal lines should stand for "building and development".
