Hemelumer Oldeferd [former municipality]

Hemelumer Oldeferd (Frisian: Himmelummer Âldefurd) is a former municipality, now part of the new municipalities of Gaasterlân-Sleat and Nijefurd. Settlements: Koudum (seat), Molkwerum, Warns, Scharl, Hemelum, Kolderwolde, Oudega, Nijega, Elahuizen, Heidenschap (part, other part in Workum).
The old flag was: three equally wide horizontal stripes of green, blue, and black. It was a reflection of the municipal arms, first used on the occasion of the parade in front of Queen Juliana and Prince Bernhard on 7 May 1962 in Leeuwarden.
The new flag was essentially the same, with the addition of a square canton horizonatlly divided in two equally wide stripes of yellow and red.

Âldegea village (Oudega)

This village is in southwest Fryslân. It was part of the former municipality of Hemelumer Oldeferd. Not to be confused with nearby Oudega in Wymbritseradiel and Oudega in Smallingerland.
Âldegea / Oudega, municipality of Gaasterlân-Sleat.
Flag: In blue a yellow lozenge touching all sides of the flag, charged with a red castle with hipped roof, illumated and two windows opened. The castle with a height of 7/10 flagheight. The lozenge with towards the hoist top and bottom a yellow peat-block with dimensions 2/15 flagheight x 1/6 flaglength and placed on 1/12 flagheight of resp. the top, the hoist and
the bottom of the flag.
The Coat of Arms is based on the old Coat of Arms of the former polderboard "De Groote Noordwolderpolder". (That Coat of Arms was designed by J.C.J. Tjessinga and granted by royal resolution of 29 Jan 1936, # 61). The village is in the center of this former polderboard. It was also the place, where Yge Gales van Galama lived on the "stins"- castle, which is why this stins has been adopted on this Coat of Arms; the fleur-de-lis is from the Galama arms.
The three peat-blocks designate that this was an old peat-digging area.
The colors point at the water, which is found plentyful in this area (blue). the higher sandy soils (yellow), with the red color designating the brick houses of the village.
The flag was derived from the Coat of Arms and is self-evident.

Coat of Arms: in blue a yellow lozenge, touching all sides of the shield, charged with a red castle with a hipped roof and two windows, illuminated and opened. The castle with three black peat-blocks, placed to the right, to the left and below the castle. The lozenge with in the top right corner of the shield a golden fleur-de-lis.
