The North Carolina Wildlife Federation (NCWF) is one of 51 state and
territory affiliates of the National Wildlife Federation (NWF). The members of
the affiliate network help push for and implement NWF policies and goals for
wildlife and habitat conservation and environmental protection. The NCWF was
founded in 1945 and is headquartered in both Raleigh and Charlotte, North
Carolina. The organization states as its mission "to protect, conserve and
restore North Carolina wildlife and habitat." It does this through influencing
state and federal environmental policies through science-based decision-making,
creating a network of local chapters across the state to further the
organization's goals at the grassroots level, and creating educational programs
for youth and adults regarding awareness and appreciation of wildlife and the
importance of protecting the environment. (http://ncwf.org/about/)
The organization's flag can be seen in the background of a photograph
online at
https://www.mcdowellnews.com (image:
https://bloximages.newyork1.vip.townnews.com/mcdowellnews.com).  The
photograph appears to show the organization's flag as featuring the NCWF logo
centered on a white field. The logo itself shows an American bison in black
standing in grass, facing toward the fly, on white within a yellow circle.
Beneath the bison are the words "ENVIRONMENTAL" and "QUALITY," one above the
other, in black capital letters. The yellow circle is bordered in black, and
bears the words "NORTH CAROLINA" across the top and "WILDLIFE FEDERATION" across
the bottom, both in black capital letters. The numbers "19" and "45," denoting
the year the organization was founded, are found at the left and right extremes
of the circle.
