Description of the flag

Brandon Wilson, Amtrak Customer Relations Specialist lets me know that currently Amtrak does not fly any flags.
Peter Hans van den Muijzenberg, 3 February 2014

Sometimes a tapering swallowtail is shown (as above) whereas here the flags seem to be rectangular (coloured picture of the LV Terminal at Buffalo, building finished in 1916): wnyheritagepress.org/photos_week_2008/lehigh_valley_terminal/lehigh_valley_terminal.htm

The AMTRAK flag is a logo flag on blue, with a white fringe. There is an inscription at the bottom of the flag, but I cannot make it out.

Police Department

"The Amtrak Police Department is a railroad police agency, security organization that acts as the law enforcement arm of Amtrak, the government-owned passenger train system in the United States. It is headquartered at Union Station in Washington, D.C., and has about 505 sworn police officers, most of whom are stationed within the Northeast Corridor, Amtrak's busiest route.

"This quasi-federal agency has primary jurisdiction on Amtrak stations nationwide, trains, rights-of-way, maintenance facilities and crimes committed against Amtrak or its passengers.

"Most Amtrak police officers are trained at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, although some recruits may be certified through a local police academy."

The flag of the Amtrak Police Department features the agency's logo centered on a dark blue field. Above the logo are arched the words "AMTRAK POLICE DEPARTMENT" in white capital letters, while the motto PROTECTING "AMERICA'S RAILROAD" is in similar lettering beneath the logo. The motto also contains a service mark (superscripted "SM"). The logo itself is very similar to the seal of the United States, featuring a bald eagle, striped shield, clutched arrows and olive branch, and the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM."
