image by Daniel Rentería, 2 November 2025Eastern Equatoria State was re-established on 22 February 2020. Its flag has been the same all throughout except at the very beginning of independence; it has used this flag from 2011 to 2015, then 2020 onwards.

The state emblem of Eastern Equatoria is a white circle depicting, in its outer ring, a red ring and wavy yellow one like that of the sun, the red one having numerous dots. Above are the initials of E.E.S in gold with a white star at the start and end of the initials. In the inner circle, the upper half is gray and depicts three mountain peaks representing the Imatong Mountains; here, the highest mountains of the nation are seen. The middle has a yellow band with a thin wavy black band just above and a red one just under. The lower half depicts a cheetah over a green field for its fauna. Finally, the lower part of the sun is cut off by a white ribbon reading EASTERN EQUATORIA STATE.

The previous flag mentioned by Aleksander appears to be in the same format mentioned by Jaume Olle the same year; over a white field, it depicted a green circle with a cheetah over it (state emblem). Underneath was the name of Eastern Equatoria.
