The Slovenský olympijský výbor, (English: Slovak Olympic Committee) was
founded on December 19, 1992 after the split of Czechoslovakia and was
recognized by the IOC on January 20, 1993. It evolved from the Československý
olympijský výbor (English: Czechoslovak Olympic Committee) which lasted until
March 27, 1993. It traces its roots to the first Slovak sports committee, "Národní
olympijský výbor Slovenska" (English: National Olympic Committee of Slovakia)
established on June 18, 1939, representative of the Protectorate of Bohemia and
Moravia. In the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, its officials decided under
pressure of the growing Nazi persecution in April 1943 of the "voluntary"
dissolution of the committee and the transfer of all assets to the Český
olympijský výbor (ČOV) (English: Czech Sport Committee."
The former flag was the former logo over a white horizontal flag, as seen here:
