Flag of Preddvor

The flag of Preddvor is prescribed by Decision Odlok o spremembi odloka in zastavi Občine Preddvor, adopted on 21 August 2008 and published on 30 October 2008 in the official local gazette Uradno glasilo Občine Preddvor, no. 7 (text).
This Decision amends the previous Decision prescribing the flag and arms, adding the municipal coat of arms in the middle of the flag.

The flag with the arms appears to have been used prior to 2008 (photo, 2007 Municipal Day celebration); the amended Decision would therefore be an official regularization of the situation.

The coat of arms of Preddvor is prescribed by Decision Odlok o grbu in zastavi Občine Preddvor, adopted on 15 July 2004 and published on 16 August 2004 in Uradno glasilo občine Preddvor, No. 7 (text).

The coat of arms is "Per fess argent a bar azure in chief two keys sable in saltire and in base an alpine chough volant sable and chequy azure and argent 4 x 3".
The alpine or yellow-billed) chough (Pyrrhocorax graculus, in Slovene Planinska kavka) is a bird of the Corvidae family living in the peaks of high mountains. The keys are attributes of St. Peter, the patron saint of the local parish. The white and blue checky pattern was already present in the former arms of Preddvor.
According to a letter received from the municipal administration of Preddvor, the former coat of arms was suppressed because "[it] was not in accordance with the heraldic customs, it was overly complicated and there was a tendency to simplify it."
There is a coat of arms with an ornament above the shield, used only by the Mayor for ceremonial purposes.
