About the flag

The image of these arms (and flag) exist in a seal for Dalecarlia from the 1520's, and it was used as arms at the funeral of King Gustavus I in 1560 (in the form of a "fana", a flag fastened on a pole and carried). The arrows in the arms are of a form characteristic for Dalecarlia.

A revised grant of the provincial arms was made on 30 April 1925, and the same arms were granted to the county on 15 May 1936.
