About the Flag

It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field quartered of green and yellow.

Coat of arms

Shield Vert, two tankards Or, flanked by rushes Or in four wreaths, in chief a pair of wings Argent. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "JUNCAL - PORTO DE MÓS".
Meaning:
The commune's name "Juncal" is probably derived from "junco" (Latin: juncus). The wreath is thus a canting element. The pair of wings is representing St. Michael, the local patron saint.
