Coat of arms

Shield Vert with base wavy of Azure and Argent, 16 Latin crosslets Or ordered 7:6:2:1, the last three crosslets are flanked by a cogwheel Gules fimbriated Or at dexter, and a millstone Argent garnished Sable at sinister. Mural crown Argent with four(!) visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "SERZEDELO - GUIMARÃES".
Meaning:
The crosslets are alluding to the Festival of Crosses, which is celebrated every year on the first weekend in May. The crosses are made of oak, and the name of the commune is derived from Cerzedelo (= carvalho), which means "oak". The cogwheel is symbolizing economic progress. The millstone is representing former mills, having been the base of rural economy. The base wavy is representing the rivers Selho and Ave, which are passing the commune.
